Information we collect
Visits: Our website and hosting services may receive technical information needed to deliver and protect pages, such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring page, and the time of a request. Google Analytics 4 also measures visits and interactions so we can understand how the site is used.
Comments: If you submit a comment, WordPress collects the comment, the name and email address you provide, an optional website address, and technical information including your IP address and browser user agent. We use these details to display and moderate comments and to help detect spam. Your name, comment, date, and any website link you provide may be publicly visible after approval; your email address is not displayed as a comment field. Please avoid including private information in the text of a public comment.
Messages and pitches: If you email us, we receive your address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond, handle correction and privacy requests, and consider contributions or commercial enquiries. There is currently no general contact form or public account registration on this site.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 through Site Kit by Google to understand visits, popular pages, and interactions. The Google tag loads on site pages. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies, including _ga, and process information about your device and activity. We use the reports to improve the site. WordPress may use cookies for site administrators who log in. If you tick the option to save your details when commenting, your browser stores a cookie with your name, email address, and website for convenience on a later comment. You can manage or delete cookies in your browser; blocking them may affect some site functions. Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Comments and Gravatar
Comments are checked for spam before publication. Where comments are displayed, the site requests avatar images from Gravatar using a hash derived from a commenter’s email address. Your browser may connect to Gravatar to load an image. Gravatar is operated by Automattic; see Automattic’s privacy policy.
Embedded content and external links
Some articles contain embedded media, including YouTube videos. An embedded item can cause your browser to contact the provider, which may collect information or set cookies under its own policy. Links to other websites, including any commercial or sponsored links, take you to sites with their own privacy practices. Our policy covers this website, not those destinations.
How information is used, shared and stored
We use information to run the site, understand readership, respond to messages, moderate comments, protect against misuse, and meet applicable obligations. Information may be handled by the services needed for hosting, website security, backups, email, analytics, comment avatars, and embedded content. Access to site records is limited to people and services involved in these purposes. Providers such as Google and Automattic may process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other places where they operate.
Comments may remain while the associated article and discussion are published. Correspondence, technical logs, and backup copies are kept for periods appropriate to their purpose and the relevant service’s operation; there is no universal six-month period. We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Access, correction, deletion and complaints
To ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email support@sustainabilitymattersdaily.com and describe the relevant comment or correspondence. We may need to verify that a request concerns your own information. We will review it and respond, subject to information we need to retain for legal, security, or administrative reasons.
If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first at that address and explain what happened and what outcome you seek. We will review the concern and reply. Where Australian privacy law applies and the matter remains unresolved, you can find information about making a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
