Leonardo DiCaprio Quotes about The Environment

#1

“As we progress into the twenty-first century, anyone who considers themselves a realist will have to make the environment a top priority.”

– Leonardo Dicaprio, unknown source.

#2

“We must set an example now and move environmentalism from being the philosophy of a passionate minority … to a way of life that automatically integrates ecology into governmental policy and normal living standards.”

– Leonardo Dicaprio, interview with The Guardian in 2008.

#3

“We’ve been given this gift, our planet, and we’ve found no other place in the universe that we can inhabit. I want to do something to create radical change to help save it. It’s our responsibility.”

– Leonardi Dicaprio, unknown source.

#4

“Mother Earth is hurting. And she needs a generation of thoughtful, caring and active kids like all of you to protect her for the future.”

#5

“I will fly around the world doing good for the environment.”

– Leonardi Dicaprio, The Guardian interview in 2013.

On a side note: isn’t this a bit weird? Needless to say, the airplane is not exactly the most environmentally friendly to travel. Anyway, we believe that Dicaprios` attempts to educate people about climate change will outweigh the carbon emissions related to him traveling around.

#6

“As we progress into the 21st century, anyone who considers themselves realists will have to make the environment a top priority. The truth is our planet’s alarm is now going off, and it’s time to finally wake up and take action. Thank you.”

— Leonardi Dicaprio, holding a speech Earth Day Chairman in 2000

#7

“The time to answer the greatest challenge of our existence on this planet is now. You can make history or be vilified by it.”

— to the United Nations in 2014

Want to hear more from Leonardo Dicaprio?

Not sure if you knew it, but he actually directed his own documentary. The movie is called “Before The Flood”. We have reviewed it and added it to the list of “green documentaries” that you really have to see.

Another good tip is following him on Twitter. Please note that 99 % of his Tweets are related to how we can make the earth better. If you are looking for Hollywood gossip, you (luckily) have to follow other people on Twitter:

What else can be said about Leonardo Dicaprio and his attempts to battle global warming?

Let’s find out. 🙂

Did Leonardi Dicaprio really hold a speech of the Climate Summit in 2014?

He did. And it was actually quite interesting and well-written. After all, he is one of the best actors in the world, isnt he?

See the full speech in this Youtube video:

What did Dicaprio focus on in his speech?

1) That the people he was speaking to in that room are the ones who can do the most to fight global warming.

2) He also mentioned that the situation is urgent.

3) That he is deeply concerned, and that scientists back him up on everything he said. Dicaprio even mentioned that the American military do agree that climate change is a huge threat to humanity.

4) He dos not believe that significant changes can be made by individualists, but by politicians. This is a point where many people support him – me included.

Does he live a “green lifestyle” or do people call Leonardo a hypocrite?

Some people do call him a hypocrite, but that is nothing new for A-list celebrities that try to do something good for the environment. In fact, most of them are criticized. Al Gore has received the same treatment for a long time, which you can read more about in this article.

Fox News published an article about DiCaprio and his lifestyle. As we already know, Fox News has taken a clear stand on climate change. They do not believe in it. I would hate to link to the article, but these are the incidents that are being highlighted as “eco-harmful”:
